Safari Mufasa

A six-day safari through Tanzania's highlights, timed to witness the calving season in the southern plains.

Day 1 – Arrival

Upon landing, our guides will welcome you directly outside the airport to go straight to the Lodge in Karatu. Here you can rest after your flight and perhaps refresh yourself with a dip in the pool. Dinner and overnight stay at Marera Valley Lodge in Karatu (or similar in case of overbooking).

Day 2 – Lake Manyara

After breakfast, departure for Lake Manyara National Park for wildlife viewing in the famous lake with a picnic lunch.

Lake Manyara National Park is one of the parks with the highest biodiversity in Tanzania: in a park of only 330 square kilometers, we find five different ecosystems. The alkaline water lake is home to flocks of pink flamingos, which at sunset blend with the sunlight creating wonderful landscapes. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, which hide among the tree branches, and the numerous colony of baboons that inhabit the forest and will accompany you along the road from the park entrance.

Day 3 – Ngorongoro

After breakfast, we head to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, one of the most famous safari destinations in the world, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978 and an International Biosphere Reserve in 1981. The Ngorongoro Crater is located 2,200 meters above sea level, measures over 16 kilometers in diameter, and covers a total area of approximately 265 square kilometers. Before proceeding down the steep descent into the center of the crater, you can stop for some panoramic shots.

This park constitutes the largest unbroken caldera in the world and one of Africa's natural wonders: with the presence of approximately 30,000 large mammals resident all year round (such as buffaloes, lions, elephants, cheetahs, and rhinoceroses) and many varieties of birds (such as flamingos, eagles, buzzards, ostriches, and falcons), it is absolutely unique for its concentration of wildlife. Being a crater, the vegetation inside is very sparse, which favors the easy sighting of all the animals that inhabit this place... including predators!

The permit for photo safaris inside the Crater is valid for a maximum of 6 hours. The center of the crater is occupied by Lake Magadi, which has shallow waters and tends to dry up almost completely during the dry season: it is the best spot to observe flocks of flamingos and crowned cranes, but also many herbivores, especially numerous wildebeest and zebras, which come here to drink, attracting the presence of lions and hyenas.

Dinner and overnight stay at Tanzania Bush Camps (or similar in case of overbooking)

Day 4 – Ndutu

After breakfast, the wonderful safari in the Ndutu area will begin to admire the wildlife. Picnic lunch at a suitable location within the park. In the afternoon, we will continue the sighting activity before reaching the Camp. The Ndutu region is located in the northern part of Tanzania, near the border with Kenya. The Ndutu area is famous for its natural beauty and rich wildlife. It is situated in the eastern part of the vast Serengeti conservation area and borders the Ngorongoro area.

Ndutu is particularly known for being one of the areas where the annual migration of wildebeest and zebras in the Serengeti takes place. During this migration, large herds of animals cross the region in search of fresh pastures. The migration attracts numerous tourists and safari enthusiasts every year.

The area is also home to a variety of other wild animals, including elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, and a wide range of birds. The abundant fauna and flora, together with the spectacular landscapes, make Ndutu a popular destination for those who wish to experience wildlife in a natural environment.

The region offers an authentic safari experience, as many of the areas are open without fences, allowing animals to move freely through natural ecosystems.

Day 5 – Serengeti

After breakfast, we will dedicate the entire day to the boundless Serengeti National Park to admire its wonders and its creatures. Picnic lunch in a suitable place within the park. In the afternoon we will continue the sighting activity before reaching the Camp. Being in the middle of the Serengeti, which in Maasai language means “endless plain”, one inevitably immerses themselves in this wonderful world made of nature, sometimes wild, but exceedingly fascinating. Unique and unrepeatable and absolutely natural, sudden and unexpected experiences.

Let yourself be carried away by the magic of the moment and savor every instant, its colors, lights, smells, and unrepeatable moments.

Day 6 – Tarangire

After breakfast, we head to Tarangire National Park for a fascinating photo safari.

There are 9 vegetation zones ranging from acacia forests to green plains near the river, from vegetation along deep gorges to rocky hilltops. In all these areas, numerous animals are found: zebras, impalas, wildebeest, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, warthogs, eland antelopes, large felines (such as cheetahs), and many birds (more than 300 species). The vegetation is denser compared to the Serengeti and offers a greater sense of “wildness”, making wildlife spotting more interesting.

Here, the undulating woodland savannah, surrounded by majestic baobab trees, many of which date back over 2000 years, hosts the largest elephant population in northern Tanzania.
